An Asahi Shimbun survey on Okinawa Prefecture residents found that 76 percent of respondents oppose the latest relocation plan proposed by Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama.
Only 13 percent of respondents said they support the plan to move some troops and training functions from U.S. Marine Corps Air Station Futenma to Tokunoshima island in Kagoshima Prefecture, and the airfield to another part of Okinawa Prefecture.
The survey was conducted Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of Saturday's 38th anniversary of Okinawa's reversion to Japan.
Valid responses were obtained from 746 residents.
Fifty-three percent of respondents said they support moving a U.S. base from Okinawa Prefecture to another part of Japan, up from 38 percent in an Asahi Shimbun survey in 2009.
Thirty-six percent said they oppose such a move, down from 46 percent in 2009.

朝日新聞の調査によると、調査に答えた沖縄県民の７６％が、鳩山首相による最新の移転案に反対している。回答者の１３％が、軍隊と訓練基地を普天間米軍飛行場から鹿児島の徳之島へ移転させることと、飛行場を沖縄県の他の場所に移すことを支持している。
その調査は沖縄の日本返還３８周年に先駆けて行われた。

感想：政府は５月末までに決めると言ってましたが、ここにきてぶれてきました。その上、沖縄の同意も、徳之島の同意も得られず、アメリカの信頼も失い、どうするのでしょうか。鳩山さんは決断力に欠けると思います。
